MEDICAL UPDATE … No. 15 (23/05/05 )
It’s been a good week … little in the
way of side effects.
I think I’m getting used to the patch that made me ‘woozy’ when
it was first put on …
The chemo-therapy days … make that
‘daze’ … of a couple of weeks ago is a thing of the past. And I’ve lost some
unnecessary weight.
I’m eating well … even went to
McDonalds last week for the first time since the cancer diagnosis in Feb. I’ve been scared the food would stick in my
oesophagus and I’d cause a scene ( to
put it mildly) … anyway …no hassles!
Maybe the chemo has shrunk the tumour … food seems to be getting past it
much easier.
Yesterday I went to church twice … ( three times actually , but that’s
another story ! ) … and this coming Wed., p.m. I’m taking the mid-week Bible study at Northcote Baptist …. On Psalm 110.
My notes will find their way onto my
web-page in a day or two.
Today has been spent in preparation …
with time-off for a siesta , of course , but that’s a regular occurrence whether I feel fine or not .
This
coming Wed. morning I see a Specialist … and next Monday it’s back into
hospital, but just overnight hopefully, for another dose of chemo.
People keep asking if all my hair has
fallen out yet … so here is last Thursday’s photo to let you see what’s left.

Medical Update No. 16 (
Monday 30th May. )
Greetings … again !
Well ….. I went into hospital this morning at 10:00 a.m. … for
another dose of chemo. Sat up in my
pyjamas ( whilst they jabbed a needle in, as the custom is !) …
… got all hooked up to the
chemo …
had a
delicious lunch …
……………. and at 2:00 p.m.
was told they were sending me home !
It seems my white blood
count was not up to scratch … so it’s off to pathology next Friday … and
God-willing, back into hospital next Monday.
I had a good time last Wednesday night leading the mid-week Bible
study ( I don’t know if the 15 present had a good time … it was a bit ‘heavy’)
Yes ! I’m still feeling
well … and still trying on new hats for when and if my hair disappears ….

next ????

UPDATE 18 ... Friday 17th. 2005

The last couple of weeks since
my previous chemo have left me feeling groggier than usual.
I've spent a
lot of time sleeping during the day ... and less at night. My sniffles,
probably due to lowering of resistance, are still with me. However ...
"a merry heart doeth good like a medicine" (
Proverbs 17:22 K.J.V.) and I've still got that !!
Next
chemo-treatment is due on June 27-28 ... but prior to that I have a
Pet-Scan next Thursday and a Blood
Test next Friday ...
I'ts been suggested that the reason the Lord is diminishing the number of
hairs on my head is because He had more than enough to count in my eyebrows
!! ( Matthew 10:30)
Whatever ... I've found the right head covering at last !!
